Steel Tanks Recoating and Improvements

As part of steel tank maintenance program, City of Thousand Oaks planned to recoat several existing steel tanks and perform miscellaneous rehabilitation work over the span of a few years. The City engaged Perliter & Ingalsbe to prepare complete specifications for the replacement of the existing coating on interior and exterior surfaces of the tanks with new and provide design of miscellaneous refurbishment and construction support services on an as-needed basis.
Recoating and rehabilitation work for two steel reservoirs, Willow Lane Reservoir and Sunset #2 Reservoir were performed within a few years. Major components of the project included the following:
Major Components and Special Features:

- Removal of existing interior and exterior paint systems, including hazardous and non-hazardous materials
- Applying new painting systems on interior and exterior surfaces of tank structure and appurtenances, piping, and miscellaneous metal items
- Replacing existing smaller and corroding roof vent with new larger one
- Repairing corroded steel beams/channels

- Repairing defective welds
- Repairing holes in roof plates
- Sealing perimeter vents
- Performing miscellaneous repair work as warranted during construction
