Projects - Pump Station Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation of Existing Facilities

Being a specialized and focused consultant for water infrastructures development and rehabilitation, Perliter and Ingalsbe has extensive experience in planning, design, construction inspections and construction management of new and rehabilitation of existing facilities, including pump stations.

For more than six decades of service to local cities and water districts, Perliter & Ingalsbe has been involved in providing a full range of professional services for new and rehabilitation of existing pump stations ranging in size from 150 gpm pumps with 10HP motors to 42,000 gpm pumps with 2300HP motors.

Improvement work for pump station facilities, whether it is for civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, safety, operation, aesthetic, or general site improvements, Perliter & Ingalsbe has been involved in all and many more. Our team members’ in-depth knowledge of intricate analysis, design and construction methodology of pump stations and their components provide us with unique experience in assessing deficiencies of the existing facilities and developing economical, effective, custom-tailored, and innovative solutions for required improvements.

Collectively, the projects have involved low and medium voltage, fixed and variable speed, vertical turbine and horizontal centrifugal type pumps, diesel operated pumps, associated electrical equipment, and variety of standard and special features. Typically, pump station rehabilitation and improvement projects include the following major components.

  • Electrical modifications, including removal and replacement of existing power supply, transformers, service pedestals, switchgears, MCCs, VFDs, conduits, and wires.
  • Lighting modifications, including removal and replacement of panel boards, interior and exterior fixtures, switches, motion sensor, and poles.
  • Removal and replacement of pump controls, PLC and instrumentation.
  • Modifications to communication systems, including telephone hard line, cellular, radio, and fiber optic systems.
  • Replacements of pumps and motors.
  • Mechanical improvements, including removal and replacement of piping, control valves, isolation valves, couplings, and similar other items.
  • Replacement of instruments, including pressure switches, gauges, limit switches, electrodes, vibration switches, etc.
  • Addition or replacement of surge devices, including surge tanks and pressure relief, pressure reducing, and surge anticipating valves.
  • Structural modifications and improvements to building, enclosure walls, concrete slabs, pump foundations, and roof systems.
  • Addition of new masonry buildings.
  • Addition or replacements of heating and ventilation system components, including louvers, doors, glass windows, exhaust fans, AC system, and skylights.
  • Safety improvements, including installation of intrusion alarms, surveillance cameras, special locks at hatches, vehicle loop detector, fence, gates, etc.
  • General site improvements, involving ac pavement, curbs, gutters, concrete pavements, landscaping, irrigation system, painting, site erosion controls, drainage system, etc.
